Home remodel: a personal post | Portland Newborn Photographer

As a Portland Newborn Photographer, I often post pictures of sweet, brand new little people, but this time I thought I’d change things up a bit. About three years ago we purchased a home that I would consider a bit of a fixer-upper. It was build in the 1990’s, so it was in need of updating throughout. As soon as I walked through the door I saw potential, and I began envisioning all the changes I would make. Slowly but surely these changes are taking place, and I wanted to share one of the finished rooms with you! Last year we remodeled our kitchen, which I never did post about (hopefully soon).  But a couple of weeks ago we redid our bedroom, which has quickly become my favorite room in the house. I tried to create a serene feel, a little oasis away from the kids. A place where I can get away, plop down in my chair and read a book, or simply take in the peace and quiet.

One of my favorite parts of this bedroom is the photo wall. And it features one of my favorite type of print: the torn-edge fine art print. This wall was a DYI project. I mounted the fine art print on a barn-wood display, and a deep matte print on natural wood. I’m in love with how it turned out! I have discontinued the fine art prints from my catalgoue, but after this project I’m very tempted to start offering them again. Of course, my product list features the deep matte prints, and every full session comes with three matted deep matte gift prints. They are so beautiful!

I’m not convinced this room is 100% finished. Do you feel like it needs some finishing touches, and if so, what would you suggest? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
